Illustration No. 3 by Schmied – Climates, Anna de Noailles 1924
This early 20th-century illustration illustrates a poem in Anna de Noailles' collection of poems, Les climats.
Printed on 300g/m2 paper by Escourbiac l'Imprimeur, a leading French printing company established and located in the heart of the Tarn region since 1963.
Wood engraving by François-Louis Schmied for Anna de Noailles's poetry collection, *Les Climats*. Schmied was a painter and engraver, a major figure in the Art Deco style, highly prized by bibliophiles between the two World Wars, and his works remain highly sought after today. The gentle, melancholic poetry of the illustrations thus takes the place of the poetry of the words.
